Chuck D! [02 Jul 2004|07:26pm]
I grabbed the acapella track for Moby/Public Enemy's new collaboration "MKLVFKWR" which stands for Make Love Fuck War. Spent a few hours producing up a remix of the song which I'll be sending to Moby and Public Enemy. I think the mix turned out amazing. The lyrics are trademark Chuck D-- dropping intelligence like he was born a public speaker. Needless to say, the song is great. Moby's music rocks. I'm digging on my remix. It kind of brought up this She Watch Channel Zero vibe.... I threw in some death metal guitars in the song. Very proud of my work.

It's one of three remixes I plan on doing... the other two will be a second aggressive one, and a mellow one, respectively. I'll post them if anyone is interested in hearing all three when they're done.

Hope everyone had a great June. Don't forget to see Fahrenheit 9/11 wherever you can.

I won't be writing in this much anymore. There's just nothing to say to anyone these days except my super close friends. If anyone is interested in anything I'm up to or anything on my mind, I created a blog that will be attached to my personal website... when I update my site next the link will be there... it's not an LJ or anything social/connecting... just a place for my thoughts.

It's been an extremely busy summer so far. I've added three artists to my label, and I've made excellent progress on my solo music stuff as well as the music for Beauty's Confusion. Lots more to do this summer. No time to write in this thing anymore, and barely anyone reads it these days, so it's alright anyway. I love keeping busy.

I hate Roger Ebert, but this makes perfect sense. [25 Jun 2004|11:32pm]
I just saw Fahrenheit 9/11 and absolutely loved it.

Roger Ebert:

Moore's real test will come on the issue of accuracy. He can say whatever he likes about Bush, as long as his facts are straight. Having seen the film twice, I saw nothing that raised a flag for me, and I haven't heard of any major inaccuracies. When Moore was questioned about his claim that Bush unwisely lingered for six or seven minutes in that Florida classroom after learning of the World Trade Center attacks, Moore was able to reply with a video of Bush doing exactly that.

I agree with Moore that the presidency of George W. Bush has been a disaster for America. In writing that, I expect to get the usual complaints that movie critics should keep their political opinions to themselves. But opinions are my stock in trade, and is it not more honest to declare my politics than to conceal them? I agree with Moore, and because I do, I hope "Fahrenheit 9/11" proves to be as accurate as it seems.

Right on, Roger.

go see Fahrenheit 9/11 today. [25 Jun 2004|12:02pm]

For those of you who live in southwest Florida, Fahrenheit 9/11 is ONLY playing at the AMC Theatre in North Ft. Myers (corner of Pine Island Road and 41). It is playing all day, at various times (I think it's playing on two screens, amazingly enough). PLEASE go see this. I know for a fact the movie is not playing at Regal or anywhere in Bonita or Naples. So you must see it. Who knows if Regal will even get it at all. Fuck this town. Yay AMC Theatres. Always coming through with great movies that Regal never gets.

Hi friends. Just wondering if anyone is interested in some things I am selling soon.....

- one pair of Yamaha NS-10m monitors (worldwide studio standard-- they go for $500 a pair, I'll let mine go for around $400-- one woofer was recently replaced, with a brand new woofer).... speakers have the original grilles, too. excellent shape all around.
- an autographed Weezer CD (blue album) by all four original members (it is authentic.)
- the original Body Count album with Cop Killer on it (way, WAY out of print)
- two copies of Slipknot's self-titled first album with Purity on it (the controversial track which was banned from all releases following the initial pressing).....
- an original White Oleander movie poster, says October 11 at the bottom... very rare
- an autographed Clint Black CD
- an E-Mu Orchestral volume 1 ROM chip (string ensembles and some solo/duet strings-- all sound incredibly realistic) for the Proteus 2000 or other expandable E-mu rackmounts... I bought it for $300 a year ago, I'll let it go for only $100.
- some cool band shirts like New End Original (Jonah), Onelinedrawing (also Jonah), and some other neat stuff..... all the shirts are in great shape... most are L, some are M...

- a 4x external CD burner by Iomega.... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't... you can have it for $10 if you want to mess with it.... when it works, it works great. hey, $10 for an external/USB CD burner? sounds like a great deal!

This is why I can never say anything bad about Slipknot. Ever. [17 Jun 2004|12:09am]
Here's an old entry of mine from 2001.

An article by Corey (lead singer) of Slipknot, in the British magazine Rock Sound

"I was walking out of a theatre in my hometown, when a woman who worked there asked me if she could talk with me for a second. I said yes. She told me her name was Susan, and her daughter had died a few weeks earlier, apparantly by her own hand. But, she said, she believed if it had not been for Slipknot, she would have done it a long time ago. We were both crying by this point. I told her how sorry I was, and told her if she needed anything to let me know. I hugged her and we went our separate ways.

A month ago, I visited the bravest nine-year-old boy I've ever met. He had just had brain surgery and had a five inch scar down his head. He was fully-functional and couldn't believe I was there. This kid had more Slipknot merch than I've ever seen. We hung out for three hours talking about something we both love a lot: WWF wrestling.

On one of my first shows with the 'Knot, a young girl fell from the stage and landed on her neck. She was taken out on a stretcher and then on to the hospital. Right after the show, I went to the hospital to make sure she was alright. She was, and I stayed with her for a long time.

I know you're wondering what this has to do with anything. That's very simple. IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING.

Every time one of my kids gets hurt, a part of me dies, and it stays dead for a long time. You see, you guys give everything for us, but we give just as much back to you. When you hurt, I fucking crumble. When one of our Maggots dies... I want to die myself. We owe you everything. If it was NOT for our fans, Slipknot would not be Slipknot. It would be nine ugly guys slamming our asses off in the Clown's basement. Still (sic) and still dreaming. You have let us keep our dreams alive. You have been enough inspiration for a thousand lifetimes. So I only have one thing to say. THANK YOU.

Till then, stay (sic), my crazy Maggots, and let the nonbelievers know...

That's the fucking shit. Many may disagree with Slipknot's music, lyrics, and overall vibe, but I know it's just a vehicle for their aggression and anger from being misunderstood and growing up in a closed-minded small town. They're incredibly cool. Oh and by the way, Corey's all-time favorite movie is You've Got Mail. That's right, the Nora Ephron romantic comedy starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. So stick that in your shirt and iron it.

I love Joseph Gordon-Levitt. [12 Jun 2004|10:11pm]
"The whole concept of celebrity pisses me off. While I'm not a celebrity, it's such a weird concept that society has cooked up for us. Astronauts and teachers are much more amazing than actors."

That's a quote from him. I think he is truly one of the nicest actors ever. Everything I see him in, interviews or whatever, he is totally down-to-earth and awesome. I can't stand people who worship actors who are complete assholes/bitches in every possible way. He is a great actor and someone who deserves his success, unlike a lot of others.

Saved! and Pieces of April [12 Jun 2004|09:20am]
Saved was pretty good. As most movies nowadays though, the ending could have been improved. It started out very promising, even up til the middle of the movie... but the end just kind of got out of control and stupid/unbelievable. Still, an enjoyable movie. Great performances all around. Best part of it was Roland and Cassandra. And the ridiculous things that Mandy Moore said, which were very believable, in that born-again-I'm-insane sense. I gave it an 8 out of 10 on imdb.

Pieces of April.... very, very cool. I love seeing a great indie flick shot on digital video. A Sony PD-150. Excellent story, great acting, awesome ending. A movie to own, for sure. 10/10.

Maybe I'll get it right in the next life. - Corey Haim in Just One Of The Girls, 1992 [09 Jun 2004|02:35am]
So I finished THREE songs tonight. Not just finished, but WROTE, RECORDED, and got the whole basic arrangement down. Of course there's tweaking to do, and lyrics to get down/vocal melodies to write. But it's all awesome. I love it.

I'm the suckiest mix CD maker of all-time. I used to be good! I don't know what the hell happened.

I need to think of titles for these three songs. Fucking awesome.

Fuckin-a, today was a good day. I wrote and finished TWO FULL SONGS, and got started on a third one, and I'm still working on it. I have vocal ideas here and there for the first two songs. I'm going to jot down some lyrics a little later, or maybe I'll use some of my old lyrics that don't have music yet. I'm not sure. But damn! For the past five hours I've been doing nothing but writing songs for my electronica/indie project. Fucking awesome. I'll probably finish this album this week. I sure hope I can.

It really pays to sit down and write. I waste too much time watching television and surfing the net for stupid shit. No more of that.

i'm sick of suggestions, i'm sick of stupid questions,
i'm sick of flat tires, i'm sick of big fat liars.
i'm sick of being spoonfed and bleeding crossfaders,
i'm fed up with the gossip, i'm sick of rollerbladers.
i'm sick of second place and being ripped off,
i'm sick of seeing angels with their wings clipped off.
i'm sick of cheap thrills and no penetration sex,
if you know what i mean, i'm sick of generation x.

i'm sick of these goddamn compact discs.
i'm sick of baggy pants and i'm sick of tea and coffee,
